シンガポールの新聞に私が登場しました！
「THE SUNDAY TIMES」2008年1月6日号です。
「弾き初め会」に絡んで、私が登場したのです。日本の「書き初め」や「稽古初め」と日本人の文化風習に絡めて記事は書かれています。
中央に大きく私がレッスンしている写真が！
もうシンガポールでは街を普通に歩けないかもしれません・・・（そんなことはないか・・・）
写真左が私。右はこの記事を書いた私の生徒さん。弾き初め会の写真ではありません。夏合宿のときの写真ですね（まあ、いわばイメージ写真？）。
私の「弾き初め会」に関する発言も記事に出てきます。基本はこのブログでも語ったのと同じですが、若干私の子供のころの我が家のしきたり話もでてきています。

I asked my guitar teacher Masatomo Tomikawa why he started his hikizomekai two years ago.
'I began the hikizomekai as a way of curing my students of their New Year holiday stupor. By this I mean that when students think they do not have to practise the guitar during the New Year break, they lose their touch,' explained Mr Tomikawa.
'For those of my students who take part in the hikizomekai, I think many start practising at least two days beforehand, some of them even on New Year's Day itself.'
Most Japanese students have a New Year break that lasts about two weeks, but Mr Tomikawa's guitar class closes for an even longer period.
'Usually, the first lesson of the year takes place after Jan 10. So if my students begin to practise the guitar again only from that point, it means they will have not been practising for several weeks,' he pointed out.
But his belief in upholding tradition grew out of personal experience.
As a child, Mr Tomikawa was taught by his parents that on Jan 2, the second day of the New Year, he had to start doing whatever he expected to accomplish during the rest of the year.
'So, up to the time I graduated from high school, I would play the guitar on the morning of Jan 2 of my own accord. Having done so, I felt I was able to get down to serious practice more smoothly,' said Mr Tomikawa, who started learning the guitar when he was 12.
'When I recalled what I did as a youth, I thought it would be a good idea to organise a hikizomekai for my students.'
The idea of such 'first-in-the-year' rituals is not limited to the cultural side of Japanese society. One of the most spectacular New Year events is the dezomeshiki, which marks the first day of work for firemen in Tokyo.

上記英語が得意な方は是非、読んでみてください。基本的に弾き初め会をやっている意義は以前ブログに書いたのと同じです。私がギターを始めてから1月2日には「書き初め」同様に、自主的に「弾き初め」をしていたのが、この会を教室行事として始めたきっかけであるということも書かれています。
これは両親から「教え」であったわけです。
「新年2日には“今年頑張りたいと思う全てのことをスタートする”ことが大切」という我が家の家訓だったわけです。このことは楽器のタッチを忘れないためにも意義深い習慣でした。また、新年思いを新にしてギターの学習に励む・・・と精神面にも効果的だったと思います。
御陰で年末年始用（兼旅行用）にヤマハのサイレントギターもここ数年大活躍です。2年前ポルトガルに行ったときも携行、昨年も実家に持っていきました。
うーん、それにしてもシンガポールの新聞に自分の教室のことが載るなんて全く予想だにしなかったなあ。それに、英語になるだけで、自分の発言が立派な感じに見えるのは実に不思議・・・。
